Salsa the night away!

Welcome!

This is the first time I'm joining the challenge at Trimgym's Digistamps.
Their May challenge is "Anything Goes".

I received the lovely Salsa Dancing Couple to work with. Isn't it a lovely image! I wanted to focus the card on them, so I kept it fairly simple in red, white & black. Hope you like it!

Women!

Welcome!

Another week, another new challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad!
Our theme: My Kind of Gal (Women)
Our sponsor: Gingerloft Digital Stamps

I've decided to colour the Geisha with girl in some different colours than expected. The green is a symbol of freshness & youthfulness as well as eternal life. Yellow is a sacred colour in the Far East. It also has the meaning of courage, beauty & refinement as well as aristocracy & cheerfulness. (Source Note - the meanings come from this source and may differ from other sources). I've used a stamp from Great Impressions for the sentiment on a yellow panel. A gold panel and bottle green card compliments the colours that I've used.

I find the meanings interesting and will definitely think twice before colouring images from other cultures.

I hope my card about a women from a different culture inspired you to make your own and enter our challenge!

Owls!

Welcome!

There is a new challenge on the block: Lunagirl Moonbeams.
Their first challenge is 'birds'.

Since Lunagirl Moonbeams have all these wonderful collage sheets, I decided to have a look around at some vintage images. What better place to go than The Graphics Fairy! I knew I'd find something there to use to create a card depicting birds. Well, I found more than what I can use. After much deliberation, I decided on the wonderful owls.

I printed them out to fit on a card. I decided to just colour their eyes in a dark gold (yellow mixed with a little mustard marker). I layered the image on black, mottled gold & black again before fixing it to my white card. Three gems and some Glitter pen lend a final touch.

Here is my  card:

Flowers and Lace

Welcome!

Another day, another card!

My card was created for the challenge at A Day For Daisies.

Here is the card I created for Challenge #69 - Use something Lace ~ y!

I started with a red card, onto which I hot glued a piece of lace, ribbon and a bow. My lovely image is Vintage Poppy Cluster from A Day For Daisies. I coloured two images, fussy cut the first and fussy cut a few petals from the second. I fixed the image to the card and layered the petals onto the image.  Black Diamond Stickles added to the flower centers complete the picture.

Hope you are inspired and will visit again!

Flowers for mama

Welcome!

I've printed out a few of the lovely images from Nicecrane Designs that we received to play with at Crafting by Designs. The image I'm using is Adorable Bessie 5 from Adorable Bessie DSL. The vintage images are so sweet and keeping it simple let them really stand out!

The image was coloured with my pencils. The edges were torn & inked with a purple stamp pad. I decided on a purple card which complimented the flowers in the image. I added ribbon in three shades of purple with hot glue.

Such a cute image, don't you think? Just a note: I decided that the bush looks like hydrangeas so I coloured them light purple...a little artistic license.

I'm adding my card to the following challenges:

Steaming Hot!

Welcome!!

I've wandered around on the web looking for some interesting challenges with the help of Feline Playful. I was in this card making mood, but I wanted challenges to enter before I create a load of cards and nowhere to go!

My wanderings brought me to 2 interesting challenge blogs and I decided to combine the 2 into one card:

The first challenge blog is The Alley Way Stamps where I got the super cute image and sentiment. They have a lovely variety, do visit them! Their challenge #28 is a colour challenge.
The second challenge blog is Case Study Challenge Blog and for challenge #140 they supplied a card to case almost in the same colours as The Alley Way challenge!

Here are the 2 challenge images:

I used the colours from the first and the layout from the second!

Sassy Flowers.

Welcome!

I was so thrilled that I won images in the Sassy Studio Designs' challenge last week that I just have to enter again!

The theme this week at Dare to be Sassy Thursday #176 is: 'April Showers bring May Flowers', the brief : show flower(s).

I have coloured Sassy Crissy's Prom in red and fussy cut her. She was just waiting for a background. I love Designer Papers, but I find it difficult to use, do not ask me why? Maybe I just don't like to cut up those beauties...Well, in this case I found the perfect backdrop for my Sassy Crissy!! Beautiful flowers, toned down against wood grain with some dainty flowers in-between. I cut a panel from the DP, layered it on red to form a narrow frame and then fixed it to a kraft base card. Crissy was added on foam tape and I added a bit of bling with my gelly roll.

Really, I like the way my card has turned out. It is CAS with the lovely DP on perfect display, and the lovely Sassy Crissy the focal point of the card.

I'm also linking my card to the following challenges:

Vintage Woman

Welcome!

The Women are Special challenge at Digistamps4Joy really inspired me.

With this card I'm using an image that I've had printed out for a long time. It is from a collage sheet by Retro Café Art - Parisian Beauties. I've used the one image of the lady holding a sheaf of flowers and an umbrella. I layered the image on peach card that was cut with a deckle scissors and then layered onto a textured (lined) card that was edged with white ink.

I stamped the wine card with white ink using Kaisercraft's Delicate lace. The framed image was added and it was all finished off with a double organza bow with a pearl centre.

The card was made in honour of all the special women that paved our way. Not just our mothers and grandmothers but all the incredible women that make us proud to say : I am woman, I am special, I am unique.

I'm linking my card to the following challenges:

You are special!

Welcome!

I am combining 2 challenges in this post.
The first is Sketch #258 at Sketch Saturday.
The second and not the least is Challenge #66 Women are Special at Digistamps4Joy.

I've used Teardrops (for Boston) that was offered as a freebie in sympathy with the victims of the Boston Marathon Bomb blast. Real friends are there to share your laughs and your tears, and I've made this bright card to say thanks to all those special friends who brighten my live and share my laughs and tears. You are all special!!

I hope that I have inspired you!

Baby, it's cold outside!

Welcome!

A new week, a new challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad!
Our theme this week is : It's Natural.
Our generous sponsor is : Stitchy Bear - Berry Bear.

My choice of image, generously supplied by our sponsor  Stitchy Bear - Berry Bear is Backyard, a fabulous digital image with so many possibilities. I decided to use it as is in black and white. I layered it on mirror board and then onto a black card. 3 punched leaves were added as well as some glitter to the image. The sentiment was handwritten in silver and overwritten with my Gelly roll.

Here is my card:

After taking the photograph, I actually realized what depth this image has, and how beautiful it is. In a way, I think my sentiment really compliments the feeling of emptiness the image conveys!

Do come and join us with your nature inspired cards!

Flowers for you!

Welcome!

For my card I'm using the Tulip Basket by Digistamps4Joy to make my card for a special woman, a friend.

My card is caramel and square. I cut a panel of natural card stock a little bigger than the ATC size red panel. I punched 2 corners of both and layered them onto my base card.

I printed 2 images that I've coloured the same. The one image I've fussy cut and glued to a scrap of gold paper. This was fussy cut again and then fixed to the red layer. The top leaves of the flowers and the top of the bow was cut from the second image and 3-D'ed onto the main image with foam tape. My gelly Roll and some Stickles add a bit of glamour & bling.

Here is a close-up of the basket:

I'm sure my friend will love the basket of tulips that will not wilt!

Remembering our childhood...

Welcome!

What a fun challenge we have this week at Crafting by Designs : Remembering our Childhood!
Our generous sponsor is Ignacio from Nicecrane Designs.

The wonderful images that we had to work with made it child's play to create fabulous cards! I've used the Princess of Hearts from the Alice in Wonderland DSL Save Pack I.

The cute vintage image was coloured with my pencils & fussy cut. I also embossed it to give it more shape & definition. Then, before I added it to my card, I added some Gelly Roll and Stickles glitter.

While the glitter was drying, I made my card. The base card is a lavender mottled & lightly textured card. I cut panels from green mottled cardstock as well as white shiny textured paper. A little purple ink was sponged onto the green panels, really just the edges. The green panels were added to the white and then to the card.
This layout was inspired by Sketch #257 from Sketch Saturday.
Finally, I added a narrow green organza ribbon with bow.

At last, the card was ready for the image which I added with foam tape. The idea was to create a dreamy feel to the card and I hope you see it too!

Without further ado, here is my card:

Here it is a bit closer:

And here is the sketch:

I hope it is a good interpretation. And I hope that I have inspired you to join the challenge!

Darling Daisies

Welcome!

It is the 2nd week of the April Showers bring May flowers challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad!

My Darling Daisies has deep wine centres fading into white or pale yellow. The pale green of the leaves are echoed in the green card. Rhinestones add some bling to the card. We hope to see some more flowers and showers this week!

Sassy Brickroad TicTacToe

Welcome!

Sassy Studio Designs had a Blog Hop last weekend as well as a TicTacToe Challenge.

I chose the top row. I used a texture plate and pencil to create my brick wall on yellow paper. A woven ribbon finishes the row. But what will a card be without a Sassy image? I used Skater Sassy and coloured her in earthy colours - she wears a yellow top to add to the theme. I used a craft card and added some brown pencil texture.

Well, here is my card:

I hope you will visit again!
